Chemical graphitized r-GOs, as the thinnest and lightest material in the carbon family, exhibit high-efficiency electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding at elevated temperature, attributed to the cooperation of dipole polarization and hopping conductivity. The r-GO composites show different temperature-dependent imaginary permittivities and EMI shielding performances with changing mass ratio.
Abstract Electromagnetic energy radiation is becoming a “health‐killer” of living bodies, especially around industrial transformer substation and electricity pylon. Harvesting, converting, and storing waste energy for recycling are considered the ideal ways to control electromagnetic radiation. However, heat‐generation and temperature‐rising with performance degradation remain big problems. Herein, graphene‐silica xerogel is dissected hierarchically from functions to “genes,” thermally driven relaxation and charge transport, experimentally and theoretically, demonstrating a competitive synergy on energy conversion. A generic approach of “material genes sequencing” is proposed, tactfully transforming the negative effects of heat energy to superiority for switching self‐powered and self‐circulated electromagnetic devices, beneficial for waste energy harvesting, conversion, and storage. Graphene networks with “well‐sequencing genes” ( w = P c / P p > 0.2) can serve as nanogenerators, thermally promoting electromagnetic wave absorption by 250%, with broadened bandwidth covering the whole investigated frequency. This finding of nonionic energy conversion opens up an unexpected horizon for converting, storing, and reusing waste electromagnetic energy, providing the most promising way for governing electromagnetic pollution with self‐powered and self‐circulated electromagnetic devices.
Light-weight nanocomposites filled with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are developed for their significant potentials in electromagnetic shielding and attenuation for wide applications in electronics, communication devices, and specific parts in aircrafts and vehicles. Specifically, the introduction of a second phase into/onto CNTs for achieving CNT-based heterostructures has been widely pursued due to the enhancement in either dielectric loss or magnetic loss. In this work, ferroferric oxide (Fe(3)O(4)) was selected as the phase in multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)-based composites for enhancing magnetic properties to obtain improved electromagnetic attenuation. A direct comparison between the two-phase heterostructures (Fe(3)O(4)/MWCNTs) and polyaniline (PANI) coated Fe(3)O(4)/MWCNTs, namely, three-phase heterostructures (PANI/Fe(3)O(4)/MWCNTs), was made to investigate the interface influences of Fe(3)O(4) and PANI on the complex permittivity and permeability separately. Compared to PANI/Fe(3)O(4)/MWCNTs, Fe(3)O(4)/MWCNTs exhibited enhanced magnetic properties coupled with increased dielectric properties. Interfaces between MWCNTs and heterostructures were found to play a role in the corresponding properties. The evaluation of microwave absorption of their wax composites was carried out, and the comparison between Fe(3)O(4)/MWCNTs and PANI/Fe(3)O(4)/MWCNTs with respect to highly efficient microwave absorption and effective absorption bandwidth was discussed.
Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is not only an effective solution for primary health care, but also a great resource for drug innovation and discovery. To meet the increasing needs for TCM-related data resources, we developed ETCM, an Encyclopedia of Traditional Chinese Medicine. ETCM includes comprehensive and standardized information for the commonly used herbs and formulas of TCM, as well as their ingredients. The herb basic property and quality control standard, formula composition, ingredient drug-likeness, as well as many other information provided by ETCM can serve as a convenient resource for users to obtain thorough information about a herb or a formula. To facilitate functional and mechanistic studies of TCM, ETCM provides predicted target genes of TCM ingredients, herbs, and formulas, according to the chemical fingerprint similarity between TCM ingredients and known drugs. A systematic analysis function is also developed in ETCM, which allows users to explore the relationships or build networks among TCM herbs, formulas, ingredients, gene targets, and related pathways or diseases. ETCM is freely accessible at http://www.nrc.ac.cn:9090/ETCM/. We expect ETCM to develop into a major data warehouse for TCM and to promote TCM related researches and drug development in the future.

It is emergent to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuel combustion and thereby limit climate destabilization. In order to achieve the industrial scenario of CCS, there is a need for the discovery of better solid CO2 adsorbents that realize great improvement of selective capacity and stability to moisture as well as significant reductions in energy requirements and costs. In this review, we provide an overview of the current status of the emerging microporous metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) for the storage and separation of carbon dioxide. We summarize the main factors for CO2 capture performance of MOF materials under different working conditions, in comparison with those for zeolite materials. At the same time, we analyze the relationship among porous structures, pore/window sizes, capacity, selectivity and enthalpy of porous MOFs for CCS, which will give us clues for the design and synthesis of MOF materials as CO2 adsorbents.

With the rapid development of Internet technology and social networks, a large number of comment texts are generated on the Web. In the era of big data, mining the emotional tendency of comments through artificial intelligence technology is helpful for the timely understanding of network public opinion. The technology of sentiment analysis is a part of artificial intelligence, and its research is very meaningful for obtaining the sentiment trend of the comments. The essence of sentiment analysis is the text classification task, and different words have different contributions to classification. In the current sentiment analysis studies, distributed word representation is mostly used. However, distributed word representation only considers the semantic information of word, but ignore the sentiment information of the word. In this paper, an improved word representation method is proposed, which integrates the contribution of sentiment information into the traditional TF-IDF algorithm and generates weighted word vectors. The weighted word vectors are input into bidirectional long short term memory (BiLSTM) to capture the context information effectively, and the comment vectors are better represented. The sentiment tendency of the comment is obtained by feedforward neural network classifier. Under the same conditions, the proposed sentiment analysis method is compared with the sentiment analysis methods of RNN, CNN, LSTM, and NB. The experimental results show that the proposed sentiment analysis method has higher precision, recall, and F1 score. The method is proved to be effective with high accuracy on comments.

IMPORTANCE: The association of nonmotor features and Parkinson disease (PD) is increasingly recognized. Evidence suggests that inflammation may play a role in PD pathologic features and symptoms. OBJECTIVE: To quantitatively summarize the peripheral inflammatory cytokine data available for patients with PD. DATA SOURCE: A systematic search of peer-reviewed English-language articles from PubMed, PsycINFO, and the Cochrane Library without year limitation was performed from December 7, 2015, to March 23, 2016. The search terms included inflammation or cytokine or chemokine or tumor necrosis factor or interleukin or interferon or C-reactive protein AND Parkinson disease. STUDY SELECTION: Studies were included if they provided data on peripheral blood cytokine concentrations in patients with PD and a healthy control group. Studies were excluded if they contained in vitro analysis of stimulated or unstimulated levels of cytokines, samples that overlapped with other studies, patients not diagnosed with PD at blood sampling, or if the cytokine analyzed was assessed in fewer than 3 studies. DATA EXTRACTION AND SYNTHESIS: Data were extracted from the 25 included studies encompassing 1547 unique patients with PD and 1107 unique controls by 2 independent investigators. Data were pooled using a random-effects model with the Comprehensive Meta-analysis software. Effect sizes were generated as standardized mean differences of cytokine concentrations between patients with PD and healthy controls and converted to the Hedges g statistic. MAIN OUTCOMES AND MEASURES: Blood cytokine concentrations in patients with PD compared with controls. Aberrations in peripheral cytokine levels were hypothesized to be related to PD. RESULTS: Among the 2654 study participants, concentrations of interleukin 6 (IL-6) (Hedges g, 0.325; 95% CI, 0.007-0.643; P = .045) in 13 studies, tumor necrosis factor (Hedges g, 0.354; 95% CI, 0.144-0.563; P = .001) in 9 studies, IL-1β (Hedges g, 0.382; 95% CI, 0.142-0.621; P = .002) in 6 studies, C-reactive protein (Hedges g, 0.323; 95% CI, 0.052-0.593; P = .02) in 6 studies, IL-10 (Hedges g, 0.329; 95% CI, 0.051-0.607; P = .02) in 5 studies, RANTES (regulated on activation, normal T-expressed, and presumably secreted) (Hedges g, 0.605; 95% CI, 0.111-1.099; P = .02) in 5 studies, and IL-2 (Hedges g, 0.789; 95% CI, 0.105-1.472; P = .02) in 3 studies were significantly higher in patients with PD compared with healthy controls. No differences were found between patients with PD and healthy controls for concentrations of interferon-γ (Hedges g, 0.745; 95% CI, -0.192 to 1.682; P = .12) in 5 studies, IL-4 (Hedges g, 0.031; 95% CI, -0.191 to 0.253; P = .79) in 3 studies, and IL-8 (Hedges g, 0.072; 95% CI, -0.136 to 0.279; P = .50) in 3 studies. CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE: The findings of the meta-analysis demonstrated higher peripheral concentrations of IL-6, tumor necrosis factor, IL-1β, IL-2, IL-10, C-reactive protein, and RANTES in patients with PD, strengthening the clinical evidence that PD is accompanied by an inflammatory response.
The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic was partially due to the challenge of identifying asymptomatic and presymptomatic carriers of the virus, and thus highlights a strong motivation for diagnostics with high sensitivity that can be rapidly deployed. On the other hand, several concerning SARS-CoV-2 variants, including Omicron, are required to be identified as soon as the samples are identified as 'positive'. Unfortunately, a traditional PCR test does not allow their specific identification. Herein, for the first time, we have developed MOPCS (Methodologies of Photonic CRISPR Sensing), which combines an optical sensing technology-surface plasmon resonance (SPR) with the 'gene scissors' clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat (CRISPR) technique to achieve both high sensitivity and specificity when it comes to measurement of viral variants. MOPCS is a low-cost, CRISPR/Cas12a-system-empowered SPR gene-detecting platform that can analyze viral RNA, without the need for amplification, within 38 min from sample input to results output, and achieve a limit of detection of 15 fM. MOPCS achieves a highly sensitive analysis of SARS-CoV-2, and mutations appear in variants B.1.617.2 (Delta), B.1.1.529 (Omicron) and BA.1 (a subtype of Omicron). This platform was also used to analyze some recently collected patient samples from a local outbreak in China, identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This innovative CRISPR-empowered SPR platform will further contribute to the fast, sensitive and accurate detection of target nucleic acid sequences with single-base mutations.
Resveratrol (RV) is a well-known polyphenolic compound in various plants, including grape, peanut, and berry fruits, which is quite famous for its association with several health benefits such as anti-obesity, cardioprotective neuroprotective, antitumor, antidiabetic, antioxidants, anti-age effects, and glucose metabolism. Significantly, promising therapeutic properties have been reported in various cancer, neurodegeneration, and atherosclerosis and are regulated by several synergistic pathways that control oxidative stress, cell death, and inflammation. Similarly, RV possesses a strong anti-adipogenic effect by inhibiting fat accumulation processes and activating oxidative and lipolytic pathways, exhibiting their cardioprotective effects by inhibiting platelet aggregation. The RV also shows significant antibacterial effects against various food-borne pathogens (Listeria, Campylobacter, Staphylococcus aureus, and E. coli) by inhibiting an electron transport chain (ETC) and F0F1-ATPase, which decreases the production of cellular energy that leads to the spread of pathogens. After collecting and analyzing scientific literature, it may be concluded that RV is well tolerated and favorably affects cardiovascular, neurological, and diabetic disorders. As such, it is possible that RV can be considered the best nutritional additive and a complementary drug, especially a therapeutic candidate. Therefore, this review would increase knowledge about the blend of RV as well as inspire researchers around the world to consider RV as a pharmaceutical drug to combat future health crises against various inhumane diseases. In the future, this article will be aware of discoveries about the potential of this promising natural compound as the best nutraceuticals and therapeutic drugs in medicine.

Neural architecture search (NAS) has significant progress in improving the accuracy of image classification. Recently, some works attempt to extend NAS to image segmentation which shows preliminary feasibility. However, all of them focus on searching architecture for semantic segmentation in natural scenes. In this paper, we design three types of primitive operation set on search space to automatically find two cell architecture DownSC and UpSC for semantic image segmentation especially medical image segmentation. Inspired by the U-net architecture and its variants successfully applied to various medical image segmentation, we propose NAS-Unet which is stacked by the same number of DownSC and UpSC on a U-like backbone network. The architectures of DownSC and UpSC updated simultaneously by a differential architecture strategy during the search stage. We demonstrate the good segmentation results of the proposed method on Promise12, Chaos, and ultrasound nerve datasets, which collected by magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, and ultrasound, respectively. Without any pretraining, our architecture searched on PASCAL VOC2012, attains better performances and much fewer parameters (about 0.8M) than U-net and one of its variants when evaluated on the above three types of medical image datasets.
Light weight and high efficiency are two key factors for microwave absorption materials. In particular, it is extremely important that absorption materials meet the harsh requirements of thermal environments. In this work, multi-wall carbon nanotubes decorated with ZnO nanocrystals (ZnO@MWCNTs) were synthesized by a mild solution-process synthesis. The high-temperature dielectric and microwave absorption properties of SiO2-based composites loaded with ZnO@MWCNTs (ZnO@MWCNTs/SiO2) are investigated in 8.2–12.4 GHz and in the 373–673 K temperature range. The imaginary permittivity ε′′ of the composite with 5 wt% loading presents a weak downward trend, while those of the composites with 10 and 15 wt% loading show an upward trend with increasing temperature, which reveals different temperature dependences of ε′′. The ε′′ for 15 wt% loading is about 10 times that for 5 wt% loading. The maximum loss tangent tan δ values of the composites with 10 and 15 wt% loading exceed 0.8, while that of the composites with 5 wt% loading is less than 0.3. High tan δ is mainly attributed to the conductivity of ZnO@MWCNTs, which is dominated by the hopping of electrons in the ZnO@MWCNT network, which increases with elevated temperature. The addition of ZnO properly adjusts the complex permittivity to endow the ZnO@MWCNT/SiO2 composites with highly efficient and thermally stable microwave absorption coupled with a broad attenuation bandwidth, which almost covers the full X-band for RL ≤ −10 dB. A series of outstanding properties of ZnO@MWCNTs imply that it is a promising functional material in the world of microwave absorption.
Humans are undergoing a fateful transformation focusing on artificial intelligence, quantum information technology, virtual reality, etc., which is inseparable from intelligent nano-micro devices. However, the booming of "Big Data" brings about an even greater challenge by growing electromagnetic radiation. Herein, an innovative flexible multifunctional microsensor is proposed, opening up a new horizon for intelligent devices. It integrates "non-crosstalk" multiple perception and green electromagnetic interference shielding only in one pixel, with satisfactory sensitivity and fast information feedback. Importantly, beneficial by deep insight into the variable-temperature electromagnetic response, the microsensor tactfully transforms the urgent threat of electromagnetic radiation into "wealth," further integrating self-power. This result will refresh researchers' realization of next-generation devices, ushering in a new direction for aerospace engineering, remote sensing, communications, medical treatment, biomimetic robot, prosthetics, etc.
We fabricated NiO nanorings on SiC, a novel hierarchical architecture, by a facile two-step method. The dielectric properties depend on temperature and frequency in the range from 373 to 773 K and X band. The imaginary part and loss tangent increase more than four times and three times with increasing temperature, respectively. The architecture demonstrates multirelaxation and possesses high-efficient absorption. The reflection loss exceeds -40 dB and the bandwidth covers 85% of X band (approximately -20 dB). The synergistic effect between multirelaxation and conductance is beneficial to the microwave absorption. Our findings provide a novel and feasible strategy to tune microwave absorption.
Abstract Surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) is a new optical spectroscopic analysis technique with potential for highly sensitive detection of molecules. Recently, many efforts have been made to find SERS substrates with high sensitivity and reproducibility. In this Research News article, we provide a focused review on the synthesis of monodispersed silver particles with a novel, highly roughened, “flower‐like” morphology by reducing silver nitrate with ascorbic acid in aqueous solutions. The nanometer‐scale surface roughness of the particles can provide several hot spots on a single particle, which significantly increases SERS enhancement. The incident polarization‐dependent SERS of individual particles is also studied. Although the different “hot spots” on a single particle can have a strong polarization dependency, the total Raman signals from an individual particle usually have no obvious polarization dependency. Moreover, these flower‐like silver particles can be measured by SERS with high enhancement several times, which indicates the high stability of the hot spots. Hence, the flower‐like silver particles here can serve as highly sensitive and reproducible SERS substrates.
