Structure defects in g-C3N4 limit visible light driven hydrogen evolution and photovoltage

Two kinds of defects in g-C3N4 caused by high temperature calcination limit the photocatalytic H2 evolution activity. These defects are identified as amino/imino groups and controlling them will be key to improving the performance of the material for solar energy conversion.
