2021· Business Strategy and the Environment590doi:10.1002/bse.2906

Abstract This study examines direct and indirect effects among stakeholder pressure, green dynamic capabilities, green innovation, and performance of emerging market small and medium‐sized enterprises (SMEs). Using survey questionnaires, we collected multisource data from 248 SMEs in the manufacturing sector. We used the partial least squares (PLS) path modeling approach (PLS‐PM) to examine the hypotheses of the study. The study results indicate that stakeholder pressure influences green dynamic capability, green dynamic capability influences green innovation, and green innovation influences firm performance. Furthermore, results also suggest that green dynamic capability mediates the influence of stakeholder pressure on green innovation and green innovation mediates the impact of green dynamic capability on firm performance. The findings of the study suggest critical implications for both theory and practice.

Media presents to be a part of human life. The presence and the development of internet bring a new way of how to communite in social life. Social media presents and changes the communication paradigm in today's society. Communication in social media is not limited by distance, time, and space. It could happen anywhere, anytime, without having a face to face talking. Even social media can negate social status that is often as a barrier in communication.Social media has changed the world. Levels of communication merged into one container called a social media. The rise of many consequences must also be wary of, in the sense of social media opens up the opportunity of each individual involved in it to issue his opinion freely. However, self-control should be shared, in order to have freedom of communication which does not violate ethical boundaries and does not offend others.

The issue in this research is how to improve society ability through process human and physical capital. The relation between capital and ability improvement will be examined in this research by placing process empowerment as mediating variable to explain the activities involved. The data used in this study are primary and secondary data. The primary data was collected using survey method technique through questionnaire. Furthermore statistical analysis was used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) of Smart Partial Least Square. This research has found two ways as path patterns directed to the increasing of society ability, which are (1) pattern consist of “two creating stage” to society ability, and (2) These pattern show that to improve society ability need “three stage” of process activity. The correlation is while the empowerment process increases higher, it will impulse the creating of society ability. The implementation of this research’s result, stated that if the empowerment wants to develop human capital, it will be better if the empowerment is supported by apply the developing ability of subject empowerment.

2021· Business Strategy and the Environment169doi:10.1002/bse.2905

Abstract While the circular economy (CE) attracts attention from scholars and practitioners, the concept has been challenged by claims that the CE may be seen as a vague concept, or a new label for old green management practices. We propose a new approach to study the effects of the CE on company performance: circular product design (CPD). Consequently, this work investigates how Industry 4.0 technologies and stakeholder pressure influence CPD and, in turn, impact on company performance. Data were obtained from firms which develop products in the electric–electronic and equipment (EEE) sectors in Brazil. Our research results indicate that (i) the application of Industry 4.0 technologies favors CPD, in particular artificial intelligence and big data analytics; (ii) pressure from stakeholders can encourage the adoption of circular strategies, specially from suppliers because they are responsible for developing and delivering smart components; and (iii) although the literature may be seen as controversial, there is a positive relationship with regard to the impacts of CE adoption on market performance. Among its main implications, the article also suggests a set of design strategies oriented towards the development of products for the CE.

Photosensitized Electrolytic Oxidation on Semiconducting n-Type TiO2 Electrode

1969· The Journal of the Society of Chemical Industry Japan156doi:10.1246/nikkashi1898.72.108

立ち上り電位はpH4.7では-0.5V(vs.SCE)である。

BACKGROUND: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) may serve as immunoregulators by producing various anti-inflammatory molecules. Under sufficient level of TNF-α, MSCs become activated and adopt immune-suppressive phenotype (MSCs type-2) by releasing various anti-inflammatory molecule including TGF-β and IL-10. However, the ability of MSC itself to produce IL-10 under TNF-α stimulation and the correlation of TGF-β production of MSCs to IL-10 level remains to be elucidated. AIM: In this study, MSCs were activated with various TNF-α doses to determine the increase of IL-10 and TGF-β level as well as its correlation. MATERIAL AND METHODS: This study used post-test only control group design, by using 3 study groups, consist of 1 control (C) and 2 treatments (T) (TNF-α = 5 and 10 ng/mL) with triplicate induced in MSC for 24 hours, then the levels of IL-10 and TGF-β were measured by using ELISA assay. RESULTS: The results of this study showed a significant increase of TGF-β and IL-10 levels (p < 0.05) at TNF-α 5 and 10 ng/mL dose of TNF-α. Moreover, there was a significant negative correlation between TGF-β and IL-10 level on 5 and 10 ng/mL dose TNF-α treatment. CONCLUSION: Based on our study, we conclude that the 5 ng/mL dose of TNF-α is a sufficient dose for MSCs to suppress the inflammatory milieu. The higher increase of TGF beta is due to the controlled inflammation by IL-10.

2013· Bulletin of Marine Science105doi:10.5343/bms.2012.1108

The world is in the midst of a biodiversity crisis, threatening essential goods and services on which humanity depends. While there is an urgent need globally for biodiversity research, growing obstacles are severely limiting biodiversity research throughout the developing world, particularly in Southeast Asia. Facilities, funding, and expertise are often limited throughout this region, reducing the capacity for local biodiversity research. Although western scientists generally have more expertise and capacity, international research has sometimes been exploitative ``parachute science,'' creating a culture of suspicion and mistrust. These issues, combined with misplaced fears of biopiracy, have resulted in severe roadblocks to biodiversity research in the very countries that need it the most. Here, we present an overview of challenges to biodiversity research and case studies that provide productive models for advancing biodiversity research in developing countries. Key to success is integration of research and education, a model that fosters sustained collaboration by focusing on the process of conducting biodiversity research as well as research results. This model simultaneously expands biodiversity research capacity while building trust across national borders. It is critical that developing countries enact policies that protect their biodiversity capital without shutting down international and local biodiversity research that is essential to achieve the long-term sustainability of biodiversity, promoting food security and economic development.

2023· Scientific Reports65doi:10.1038/s41598-023-30725-6

Hip joint prostheses are used to replace hip joint function in the human body. The latest dual-mobility hip joint prosthesis has an additional component of an outer liner that acts as a cover for the liner component. Research on the contact pressure generated on the latest model of a dual-mobility hip joint prosthesis under a gait cycle has never been done before. The model is made of ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) on the inner liner and 316L stainless steel (SS 316L) on the outer liner and acetabular cup. Simulation modeling using the finite element method is considered static loading with an implicit solver for studying the geometric parameter design of dual-mobility hip joint prostheses. In this study, simulation modeling was carried out by applying varying inclination angles of 30°, 40°, 45°, 50°, 60°, and 70° to the acetabular cup component. Three-dimensional loads were placed on femoral head reference points with variations of femoral head diameter used at 22 mm, 28 mm, and 32 mm. The results in the inner surface of the inner liner, the outer surface of the outer liner, and the inner surface of the acetabular cup showed that the variations in inclination angle do not have a major effect on the maximum contact pressure value on the liner component, where the acetabular cup with an inclination angle of 45° can reduce contact pressure more than the other studied inclination angle variations. In addition, it was found that the 22 mm diameter of the femoral head increases the contact pressure. The use of a larger diameter femoral head with an acetabular cup configuration at a 45° inclination can minimize the risk of implant failure due to wear.

2020· Scientific Reports62doi:10.1038/s41598-020-78068-w

Abstract The gastric colonization of human hosts by Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) increases the risk of developing gastritis, ulcers and gastric cancer. To detect H. pylori, a nanohybrid-based BabA immunosensor is developed herein. BabA is an outer membrane protein and one of the major virulence factors of H. pylori . To design the immunosensor, an Au electrode is loaded with palladium nanoparticles (Pd nano ) by electrodeposition to generate reduced graphene oxide (rGO)/poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT). The immobilization of these nanostructured materials imparts a large surface area and electroconductivity to bio-immune-sensing molecules (here, the BabA antigen and antibodies). After optimization, the fabricated immunosensor has the ability to detect antigens (H. pylori) in a linear range from 0.2 to 20 ng/mL with a low LOD (0.2 ng/mL). The developed immunosensor is highly specific, sensitive and reproducible. Additionally, in silico methods were employed to better understand the hybrid nanomaterials of the fabricated Pd nano /rGO/PEDOT/Au electrode. Simulations performed by molecular docking, and Metropolis Monte Carlo adsorption studies were conducted. The results revealed that the hybrid nanomaterials exhibit a stable antigen–antibody complex of BabA, yielding the lowest binding energy in relation to the electrode materials, emphasizing the functionality of the constructed electrodes in the electrochemical immunosensor.

2020· Journal of Asian Finance Economics and Business62doi:10.13106/jafeb.2020.vol7.n10.795

This study seeks to determine the effect of the application of accounting information system (AIS), internal control system, and human resource (HR) competency on the quality of local government financial statements (FS). This study uses agency theory and compliance theory. Agency theory is used to explain that there is a link between the society as the principal and the government as the agent. Compliance theory is a theory, which states that every agency is obliged to comply with regulations because the law-drafting authority has the right to dictate behavior. The population in this study were employees of the financial division of local government organizations in one of the districts in Central Java, Indonesia. The total samples in this study was 106 respondents. The data used are primary data taken from distributing questionnaires to respondents. The method of analysis used to test the hypothesis was multiple linear regression analysis. The results of hypothesis testing indicate that HR competency has an effect on the quality of FS; however, the application of AIS and internal control system has no effect on the quality of FS. The implication of this research underlines the importance of HR competency to improve the quality of local government FS.
